Five Ways to Maintain Work Motivation

March 4, 2020

It has hard to stay completely on your game throughout the entirety of a working week. Everyone feels the fatigue and at times stress that can come with work and it is understandable that your focus can slip from time to time. But staying on the ball and optimising your output can be the difference in career progression.

Here are five helpful tips to help you get the best out of your working life and stay motivated throughout the week.

1 – Set yourself personal, achievable goals!

Whether it be working on a bigger project or striving to hit KPI targets, there are many goals throughout you working week that you will be looking to achieve. The bigger the goal the more daunting it can become, so why not break it down into smaller chunks? Set yourself smaller goals throughout the day so you can see in real terms where you are progressing. Once the smaller goals are starting to pile up in your win column, that bigger goal won’t seem too far away for long.

2 – Celebrate your victories!

Your smashing those small goals you made for yourself, good! Celebrate it! There is no point in setting goals if you don’t enjoy the sense of accomplishment that comes by meeting them. By allowing yourself to feel pride in your achievements, you will see the progress you are making and keep motivated.

3 – Don’t focus on the idea of “hard work”

It’s easy to say “don’t worry about it” or let the daunting nature of a big task weigh on your mind. However, the benefits of a positive mindset can be incredibly beneficial and not just in work. The ability to stay motivated and power through a task to the end will help you in the future when faced with similar situations and projects again.

4 – Enjoy your off time

It is important that when you’re not working you do whatever it is to make you happy. Spend time with your family, see your friends, do whatever it is that resets your batteries for the week ahead. This can of course be hard if you are in a role that requires attention outside of office hours. However, having the ability to switch off where you can, can help you feel energised when it’s time to switch back on.

5 – Ensure you have the career for YOU!

Do you feel you are in the best job for you? Do you feel fulfilled in your role? Are your skills being used to the best of your abilities. If not, why not?
